Product Description

The Canon EOS Rebel X line of consumer-oriented D-SLR cameras has made its indelible mark on the market. Canon sells tons of these models-and that's why the Magic Lantern Guides and DVDs that explain how to use them are bestsellers too. The Rebel XSi (the EOS 450D outside of North America) is the most recent update, and it's bound to be a hit with its 12.2 MP sensor; fast-focusing 9-point AF system; and large 3.0-inch LCD monitor with Live View function. Released right alongside this fabulous camera, Magic Lantern's book and DVD will be a must for every XSi owner.

5 out of 5 stars excellent book   June 24, 2010

    This book is awesome.
It's very easy to understand. In other words it's in plain english not a bunch of technical language. I highly recomend this for the beginner.

5 out of 5 stars Good technical overview   May 16, 2010
Graydon B. Young (Shingle Springs, CA United States)
This book is a good technical overview of how each and all of the various features and functions operates for the Canon Rebel XSi. The camera does a lot so there is a lot to review in this book. I had to take it in small sections at a time - sometime just several pages a day. I would read/study then use the camera to see what the author was saying - turning what I had learned into actual use of the camera.

My only complaint is that in most of those cases where I as the novice operator of the camera needed to make a decision regarding a particular setting or adjustment, I often had no idea what setting to select even though the book had effectively covered what all of the choices meant and how to select.

I found that the "Dummy" book covering the XSi that I had purchased at the same time as this book was a better source for such information as the author of that book would recommend a certain setting or adjustment to use as a beginner and then change it later to suit personal taste.

The two books made good companions in learning this camera.

5 out of 5 stars Highly Recommended   January 30, 2010

I found this book to be a very valuable book to add to my "photo library". Detailed and very easy to understand. Answered many questions I had regarding my new camera. I highly recommend this book to anyone owning the Canon Rebel XSi camera. You won't go wrong, especially considering the price offered by AMAZON.

5 out of 5 stars Magic Lantern Guide: Canon EOS Rebel Xsi   December 18, 2009

This book was recommended to me by a friend who is a professional photographer. I have found it to be very helpful and clearly understood. Instead of reading it from cover to cover, I pick it up and browse, learning a lot of information for the process I am working with. It would be nice to have color photos included instead of black and white, but not necessary to understand the details. It's a great little book.
