Product Description
The Nikon D90 is the long-awaited upgrade to the popular D80 digital SLR. The D90 sits between the D60 and D300 in Nikon's DSLR lineup, though many of its features come from its more expensive sibling.
In this book, Darrell Young provides a wealth of information and professional insights for owners of this powerful new camera. Each chapter explores the features and capabilities of the D90 in detail, surpassing basic user manuals by providing step-by-step menu setting adjustments coupled with illustrations and logical explanations for each option. Darrell Young's writing style allows the reader to follow directions in a friendly and informative manner, as if a friend dropped in to share his experienced knowledge without "talking down" to you, explaining the how and the why.
Darrell gives special emphasis to the amazing HD movie capabilities of the D90, which create new possibilities for the creative photographer.
Mastering the Nikon D90 is the fourth volume in the highly successful series of Nikonians Press camera books.

Excellent book for beginners to more advanced levels July 31, 2010 R. Tucker (Thousand Oaks, CA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This book really takes the guess work out of learning the D90. It has been a relatively easy learning curve especially the way Mr. Young explains things in a lay persons viewpoint rather than a technical viewpoint. It has great picture illustrations too. I find myself carrying the book with me most places I go.. I would highly recommend this to anybody purchasing the D90.
Excellant book for excellant camera! July 20, 2010 David W. Turner (Ceredo, WV, US) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
The book is more than just a rehash of the manual for the D90 camera. The book not only explains every feature and capabilities of the D90. It also explains when to use the features to get the most benefit (amazing pictures). The manual provided by Nikon, takes one on a merry go ride referring the reader to multiple pages and can be confusing to say the least. Darrell Young provides concise instruction if you will which leads to remembering vital information needed to know when it is best to use certain features in one instance and not in others.
This book does not waste your time and as others that have purchased it have said....it's the only book you will really need for the D90. Only negative I have found was in how long it took for the book to arrive, a month and a half. So if you haven't quite yet bought the D90, order the book well before purchasing the D90, so both arrive at same time.

This book was written so you could easily understand all the features and settings of the Nikon D90.
Excellent how to book for the D90! May 28, 2010 David Isbell (Burney, CA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I am very impressed with this book by Darrell Young. Mr. Young is so easy to understand and gives his recommendations for settings to use to get the most out of the Nikon D90. I can't wait to go out and practice, practice, practice! With this book, I feel equipped to indeed 'Master the D90'! Thanks, Mr. Young!
Exactly the information I wanted! May 24, 2010 Robert Krampf (St Augustine, Florida United States) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This book is worth the price, just for the chapters on autofocus and video mode. (Yes it has a chapter on video mode, 21 pages, not the 1-2 pages of most other D90 guides.) Very well written, with excellent photos. At the end of each chapter, after carefully describing what all of the bells and whistles do, Mr. Young wraps it up with his conclusions and recommendations, telling you how and when he uses the settings. I was beginning to have serious doubts about the quality of the autofocus on this camera, until I read this book and discovered what I was doing wrong.
