| Editorial Reviews:
Product Description Scott Kelby, author of The Digital Photography Book, volume 1 (the world’s best-selling digital photography book of all time), is back with a follow-up to his volume 2 smash best seller, with an entirely new book that picks up right where he left off. It’s even more of that “Ah ha—so that’s how they do it,” straight-to-the-point, skip-the-techno-jargon stuff you can really use today to make your shots even better.
This book truly has a brilliant premise, and here’s how Scott describes it: “If you and I were out on a shoot and you asked me, ‘Hey Scott, I want the light for this portrait to look really soft and flattering. How far back should I put this softbox?’ I wouldn’t give you a lecture about lighting ratios, or flash modifiers. In real life, I’d just turn to you and say, ‘Move it in as close to your subject as you possibly can, without it actually showing up in the shot.’ Well, that’s what this book is all about: you and I out shooting where I answer questions, give you advice, and share the secrets I’ve learned, just like I would with a friend—without all the technical explanations and techie photo speak.”
Each page covers a single concept on how to make your photography better. Every time you turn the page, you’ll learn another pro setting, tool, or trick to transform your work from snapshots into gallery prints. If you’re tired of taking shots that look “okay,” and if you’re tired of looking in photography magazines and thinking, “Why don’t my shots look like that?” then this is the book for you.
This isn’t a book of theory—full of confusing jargon and detailed concepts. This is a book on which button to push, which setting to use, and when to use it. With nearly 200 more of the most closely guarded photographic “tricks of the trade,” this book gets you shooting dramatically better-looking, sharper, more colorful, more professional-looking photos every time.

helpful book June 8, 2010 ALI I highly recommended to buy all 3 books of Scott Kellby .
amazing information and very very important tips and tacktick for photographers.
I bought all 3 books golden information for beginner photographers.
Easy and pleasant to read April 14, 2010 NiteHawk (Oklahoma City, Ok USA) This book picks up where Vol 2 stops. He breaks it down and teaches you those tips to enable you get those shots that you see in magazines. It's like you are being taught by a friend. It may not work for everyone but it does work for me. His books are easy and pleasant to read and understand.
Overall Volume 3 is a good book and you will learn new tricks. If you enjoyed Scott Kelby's other books you will enjoy this book.
Perfect book series for a novice photographer March 26, 2010 T-banc (Chile) I'm a Scott Kelby's fan. His books are easy and pleasant to read and understand. He always give a practical tips like useful accesories to carry in the camera bag. I have this comp'lete series book and also watch the scott videos on internet and photos on Flickr. I recommended these books.
Good but the first two are better March 24, 2010 Patrick (Des Moines, WA, United States) Like the Volume 2, Volume 3 builds of the other books as opposed to being a 3rd edition. This seems to be Scott Kelby's little scheme to get people to buy three books instead of just one. Kelby continues his same tell it like it is writing/teaching style in this volume. Each page of the book covers a different topic and contains a tip to improve your photography.
My only disappointment with this book was that it seemed to repeat some of the material from the first book. Overall The Digital Photography Book, Volume 3 is a good book and you will learn several new tricks. If you enjoyed Scott Kelby's other books you will enjoy this book.
great series March 14, 2010 S. Nehring I have all 3 Digital Photography books by Scott Kelby. I like his simple explainations and easy "this is how you do it" instructions. Sometimes you don't really want or need all the technical reasons for why certain settings work, just that it does. I've reread these books multiple times, picking up something new each time.
