| Customer Reviews: One of the very best overviews for converting to B&W images September 22, 2009 muzer (the prairie) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
This book contains most of the essential techniques for converting color images to B&W and more importantly, shows you how to correct imbalances in lighting, contrast, how to use layers and masks, how to use selective tonal controls. It's filled with helpful hints on every page. You can tell by glancing through it that it is designed for one who wants information on how to get the very best out of a black and white finished print. Very highly recommended.

Gives a wide variety of information on making your digital images black and white. Increasing ways to create in the computer the same images you make with silver photography in the dark room without the chemicals.
Comprehensive and Understandable September 3, 2009 Leigh Youdale (Sydney, Australia) 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
Although written primarily for people using digital cameras and Photoshop for post editing, there is also plenty of solid information here for photographers making the the transition from analogue (film) to digital printing via scanned negatives. Users of Photoshop Elements or other photo editing software will also find plenty of useful information - probably more than they need - but may have to check occasionally whether their software has the same features described in this book. Usually there is a similar function but lurking under another name or in a different menu.
Highly recommended as a resource that is neither too basic nor too complex, no matter what level of photographic experience you have and especially if you are wanting to move beyond the basic "point and shoot" stage of digital photography and venture into the challenging but satisfying world of black and white image creation.
